Figure 1: Modified Hay/Ison grad 1 with typical long lactobacillic
Figure 2: Modified Hay/Ison grad 3 with a typical BV flora with numerus of bacteria
Figure 3: Example of a BV and candida. This was a “test of cure” sample, collected 2 months and 3 days after treatment from a 15- year-old. The sample shows a Gardnerella morphotype with no lactobacilli, but with Candida hyphae, however the sample preparation is thin. The Aptima BV Assay was pos for BV and Dynamic Code’s assay showed a negative result for BV but positive for Candida spp.
Figure 4: Example of a BV and candida. This was a “test of cure” sample, collected 2 months and 20 days after treatment from a 26-year-old with BV and Candida spp. The Aptima BV Assay was negative for BV and Dynamic Code assay showed negative results for both BV and Candida spp.
Figure 5: Example of intermediate flora. This was a “test of cure” sample, collected 1 month and 3 days after treatment from a 20- year-old. The slide contains short lactobacilli and a sperm cell. The epithelial cells are clean, and no clue cells are seen. The Aptima BV Assay was positive for BV and Dynamic Code assay showed negative for BV and negative for Candida spp.
Figure 6: Normal long lactobacilli morphotype. This was a “test of cure” sample, collected 2 months and 6 days after treatment from a 25-year-old. The sample shows long lactobacilli. The Aptima BV Assay was positive for BV and Dynamic Code assay showed negative for both BV and Candida spp.
Figure 7: The patient collected a new sample 1 month later, with few lactobacilli and a lot of candida was seen, and the sample was classified as intermediate. The Aptima BV Assay was still positive for BV and Dynamic Code assay showed negative for BV and now positive for Candida spp.
Figure 8: Example of intermediate flora. This was a “test of cure” sample, collected 2 months and 15 days after treatment from a 20- year-old. It contains very few bacteria that look like a curved lactobacilli morphotype. The Aptima BV Assay was positive for BV and Dynamic Code assay showed negative for BV and negative for Candida spp
