Biography
Laura Romito, DDS, MS, is Associate Professor of Oral Biology at Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD). Dr. Romito graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. degree in Food Science & Nutrition, and also earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Ohio State. She completed a general practice residency at the University of Nebraska and operated a private general dentistry practice full time prior to entering academe. Dr. Romito is certified by the Mayo Clinic as a Tobacco Cessation Treatment Specialist (CTTS) and is Director of the Nicotine Dependence Program at IUSD. She is a member of the IUPUI Tobacco Cessation and Biobehavioral Group (IUPUI TCBG), The American and Indiana Dental Associations, the American Dental Education Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Romito teaches several didactic and clinical courses for dental and dental hygiene students including biomedical sciences, nutrition, tobacco dependence education, restorative and clinical dentistry. She has presented numerous continuing education courses in local, national and international settings. Dr. Romito’ s research on tobacco, dental education and other oral health topics has been disseminated through numerous presentations, abstracts and publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
