Biography
GUAN TAY is an Associate Professor in the Centre for Forensic Science at the University of Western Australia. He teaches aspects of Forensic applications of Bio-‐molecular tools at UWA. Upon completing his undergraduate degree in Biotechnology, he joined the Immunology Research team at Royal Perth Hospital. In this role, he worked with the clinical group and international collaborators to develop DNA-‐based assays and serological techniques used for histocompatibility matching of transplant pairs. For this work, he received his PhD in Immunogenetics from UWA in 1995. He currently works on a range of projects involved in identifying haplotypes associated with disease by comparing individuals from different ethnic backgrounds. His research interest also includes the development of bio-‐molecular tools that is used to establish the provenance of food products.
