Biography

Dr. Christopher Schubert Dunn had a non-traditional academic career that has combined research and scholarship with teaching, and for the past ten years, academic administration as (a) Associate Dean of the College of Health and Human Services (2003-2012) and as Interim Dean (2012-2013). As my c.v. indicates, spent nearly two postdoctoral years (1974-1976) doing research and managing grant projects at the Hindelang Criminal Justice Research Center at SUNY-Albany. From May 1976 to December 1983, He worked as a sociologist at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in its Center for Studies of Antisocial and Violent Behavior. During that period he also taught as an adjunct faculty member at American University in the School of Justice. From January 1984 through October 1993, He was Director of the BGSU Research Services Office (now OSPR) and also taught as an adjunct faculty member in Sociology, Criminal Justice, and the Great Ideas Program. In 1993, He was recruited to become the Director of the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data at the Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan. He also taught as an adjunct faculty member for one semester in the U of M Sociology Department and at Eastern Michigan University for multiple years. He worked at Michigan for nearly 10 years until he came back to BGSU in August 2003 as Associate Dean of the College of Health and Human Services and tenured Associate Professor of Criminal Justice. As of July 1, 2012, He was appointed Interim Dean of the College by Provost Rogers. During my term as Associate Dean, He regularly taught in the CJ graduate program. He also taught sections of BGSU 1000 University Seminar with a focus on critical thinking about health and wellness from 2009 to 2011.
